Today athlete Oscar Pistorius heads back to the North Gauteng High court in Pretoria to hear his fate, as Judge Thokozile Masipa will be a woman representing justice for slain model Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot dead by the Olympic gold medalist on Valentine’s Day last year.
Her then boyfriend Oscar Pistorius told the court that he shot Reeva through a closed bathroom door thinking she was a bugler evading her Pretoria home.
He was found guilty of culpable homicide by the High court in September, released on bail and ordered to return to court today for sentencing.
Both sides, the defense and the state are expected to make their final plea as to why Oscar should get more lenient (defense) or heavy (state) sentence in the case.
In an unrelated case, UK business man Shrien Dewani also has a date with lady Justice as today marks day 4 of court proceedings in a case of the murder of his wife Annie Dewani.
The “honeymoon murder’ as the local media has dubbed him is accused of staging the high jacking on a plot to kill his new wife Annie Dewani in November 2012 on their honeymoon in Cape Town.
The authorizes believe and sought to prove that Dewani is the master mind behind the murder of Annie Dewani, that he had his wife murdered in a staged hijacking, in Cape Town’s outskirt city of Nyanga.
He has been implicated by 3 people involved in the shooting, the cab driver, a gunman who shot Annie and another gentleman who was present during the “staged” high jacking.
The 3 confessed their part in the murder and are doing their time in jail respectively.
