Pregnant women are usually unsure about the issue of travelling while pregnant. The question of “is it safe to fly while pregnant or “is it safe to travel long distances”, is always in mind. There are no risks, as long as you are going through a healthy pregnancy. However, there may be some problems with women who face complications such as hypertension, diabetes or premature birth. Keep your safety belt on at all times, in a plane, car or a train. You never know when turbulence might occur. Turbulences cause trauma, so a seatbelt is the safest option.
Pregnant women need to keep hydrated so carry extra water or juice with you. Carry snacks as well. Morning sickness can strike at any time of the day, so make sure you have something to munch on to fight the nausea. These will also come in handy for the frequent cravings. Be sure to make regular stops on the way to get some fresh air. Walk around to avoid foot swelling and use the bathroom, as every pregnant woman’s bladder is easily compressed and will require regular visits to the loo.
Don’t wear clothes that are tight and might stop blood circulation. Instead, wear light, loose fitting clothes.
